I make a small commission if you buy through these links.
Thanks for helping support my site.

Things have changed over the last few years and I have way more customers with Laptops. I have tried to reflect that in these recommendations. I now link to the entire Liberator Line of cables, which include many short and Y cables for power and USB. These can be very handy for removing the desktop clutter.

  • Kill A Watt
How much electricity does your computer use when you leave it on 24/7? Now you can know what any plug in 110 VAC item uses.
Reads out in Kilowatt Hours (KWH) or displays Volts, Amps, Watts, Hertz or Volt Amps (VA).
After finding out what my setup draws, I now shut it off if I'm not going to use it for more than 2 hours.

  • LIBERATOR LINE OF POWER & USB CABLES
The Y Splitter type are especially handy for keeping a DSL or Cable Modem and a Router hot when the main computer is shut down, so the rest of the network can use them. You can plug two 'Wall Warts' in and use only one outlet space ( without blocking any additional outlets ) in any strip, surge device, UPS, or wall outlet. The Laptop Y Splitters will allow accessory power without a large extension or excess desktop clutter.
The USB shorty cords are very good for less clutter when using USB accessories to your laptop.
Some of the AC power cords available.

  • This is the style of grounded AC Cord used on Dell and IBM laptop power bricks, looks like 3 circles. These are hard to find and this is a good price. IBM (and probably Dell) want a lot more for these.

  • One Finger Mouse, PS/2 or USB
I use the PS/2 version of this when using my laptop and GPS with map software on the road. Very handy and easy to use while bumping on down the highway (or back road).
These are available in White or Black, PS/2 or USB.
Picture link goes to White PS/2, other types are listed below.

  • SOLID BRASS CPU CASE THUMBSCREWS, 6 PACK or 50 PACK
These make opening your computer a tool free job.
Maybe you'll dust it out more often !
